The Beethoven Festival Park City’s Autumn Classics starts this weekend and will run through Oct. 13.
Returning guest artists John Novacek and Michael Gurt, piano, and Airi Yoshioka, violin, will be joined by a number of local musicians.
Besides festival co-directors Leslie Harlow, viola, and Russell Harlow, clarinet, area players performing at the festival are Monte Belknap and Alexander Woods, violin; Michelle Kesler and Cheung Chau, cello; and Laurence Lowe, horn. Belknap, Woods, Kesler and Lowe are all on the Brigham Young University music faculty.
Music to be performed includes several works by Beethoven: the String Quartet op. 18, no. 4; and the Violin Sonatas, op. 24, Spring, and op. 30, no. 1. There will also be works by Schumann, Kreisler and Dohnányi.
There will be two salon concerts, on Oct. 5 and 12 at the Harlow residence in Park City. For more information, reservations and directions email lharlow@pcmusicfestival.comor call 435-649-5309. Admission to the salon concerts is $50, which will be collected at the door.
There will be two artist concerts in Temple Har Shalom on Oct. 6 and 13. Tickets for these concerts are $20 for general admission and $15 for seniors and students. Music students are admitted free of charge. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

- Oct. 5, 12:30 p.m. – Salon Concert, Harlow Residence. Program: Selections from Beethoven’s String Quartet, op. 18, no. 4; Paganini, Moses Variations, for cello and piano; Kreisler, virtuoso works for violin and piano; Novacek, Four Rags for Two Jons, for clarinet and piano.
- Oct. 6, 3 p.m. – Artist Showcase Concert, Temple Har Shalom, 3700 N. Brookside Ct., Park City. Program: Dohnányi, Sextet, for violin, viola, cello, clarinet, horn and piano; Schumann, String Quartet, op. 41, no. 3; Beethoven, Violin Sonata, op. 24, Spring.
- Oct. 12, 11 a.m. – Salon Concert, Harlow Residence. Program: Virtuoso pieces for piano; Kreisler, virtuoso pieces for violin and piano; Scherzo movement from Reger’s Quintet for Clarinet and Strings.
- Oct. 13, 3 p.m. – Artist Showcase Concert, Temple Har Shalom. Program: Brahms, Piano Quartet in G minor, op. 25; Penderecki, Quartet for Clarinet and Strings; Chopin, Piano Sonata in B minor; Beethoven, Violin Sonata, op. 30, no. 1.
